the environmental case against it is merely a case against the companies, not against the use of AI itself

ai itself is not inherently "wrong" or "right", that's like calling a computer "wrong" just because a hacker used it to do something morally bad, it is merely intended to be a tool for people to use, the problem is that large companies like google and meta like would prefer it to be used for people to lose all critical thinking skills
