If u make copper armor u either want to make every armor in the game or u just dumb

Copper/Tin Armor is a good starting armor in the game. I always skip wooden armor and make Copper/Tin Armor until I'm able to craft better armor like Tungsten/Silver or Platinum/Gold Armor.

Every item in Terraria has its valuable use, as I learn from playing Expert and Master Mode. Though Copper/Tin Armor doesn't give a lot of defense it's still a useful armor very early game compared to any wooden armor variant.

Saying Copper Armor is useless is like saying you can't beat the game with a Lawnmower (Which of course Sorbet Cafe has actually managed to do in one of his YouTube videos).

copper armor is do genuinely useless and so is wood I just skip straight to iron and tungsten and if I get lucky I'll get gold

I tend to go straight for Copper or Tin Armor then work my way up the latter upon mining for more valuable materials.

Once I get a better piece of equipment I always sell the old equipment I know I'll never use again.

(Copper Shortsword I always immediately throw at a Slime for the Squire Slime pet and I always save my Copper Axe in a chest or piggy bank until I'm able to craft an Axe of Regrowth which I never remove from my inventory since it's a really valuable tool for alchemy)

also I just skip it cuz low-key it's like 5 defense and I'm playing master mode so it won't help that much tbh I'ma just get iron
