can someone explain why i may be wrong on temporarily limiting immigration?

I was pro-ICE for a period of time because they have deported individuals with serious crimes. I also thought that it was ethical to temporarily decrease immigration, fix major economic issues, and increase immigration afterward. But ICE is crossing certain boundaries and I understand why people are resisting.
