That is correct. 10+10*2, according to the order of operations, you be 10*2, than adding ten to the answer of 10*2, which is a total of 30. PEMDAS is an abreveatoin of the words (Parentheses), Exponent²,

Multiplication ×2, Division ÷2, Addition +2, and finally Subtraction -2, that states the order of operations. Multiplication is before addition, so the multiplication is first without the Parentheses around the addition, making that equation correct. (10+10)*2=40 is what you thought it was saying, but because of the order of operations, it is 10+(10*2)=30, same reason why 1+1*2=3 1+1*2≠4
