At first, whenever I saw people being overly political on MSMG, I didn’t understand why they were doing this. While there is technically no rule against posting about politics, it’s generally not what this stream is about, and it’s even frowned upon here.
And yet, despite this, there are many users who come here to be political. Usually from the right (think Animevac), but sometimes leftists too (think Dawn a while ago), both of which are pretty hated. Whenever I see this thing, I can’t help but think about why. Why post in the one place where people generally can’t bother when there are like a million other political streams?
Now, I think I understand. In a political forum, even one slanted toward your views, there are people still prepared for this sort of discussion. People who have looked into it, people who have at least some knowledge and care about the subject matter, and people who might even give you pushback for your views. In a place like this, you can share your views without the same level of scrutiny or challenge that you’d face in an actual political space.
It’s easier to express something in a place where you know people won’t question you deeply or demand evidence, because here, people will just nod along and move on. And if you do catch some heat here, it’s less about them attacking your views, and more about them calling you out for being a nuisance. Maybe that stings a little bit (though at this point, in all likelihood, it seems as if people who are political on MSMG get off on that), but at least you don’t get called out on your dogshit opinion.
If you are reading this and feel called out on, then I’m not gonna mince words. Choosing to make your political opinion public while pussying out on doing so on streams actually meant for that purpose is one of the most spineless moves I can think of. Not just that, but because you can’t actually make a stand without facing the music, we now have another dipshit trying to turn MSMG into politics 2.0 when I just want to scroll through memes without getting riled up.
Either post your bs on one of the many political streams that exist on MSMG (including the stream literally named “politics”) or just don’t post about politics at all. Leave us alone, man.
