Oh something I should now mension, the laser weapon is kinda iffy for me. As you will see later on in lore, small arms of the United Empire of Mankind makes use of "Hyphon" guns, a fusion between rail guns and coil gun tech. Why is this? For me its a design choice, I personally think lasers and plasma small arms can be overused in scifi. But from story aspect, here's what I've come up with.
1. This laser gun (If I don't retcon it out) sucks: Despite making use of Terris technology gifted to boreans, the laser rifle has many issues such as, cooling, power supply, and cost, with only a few thousand ever made and most lost after the Liberation War.
2: Humans pushed for self development: Even with assistance from the Terris with rebuilding Earth's Environmental condition, Humanity wanted to not live in the shadow of other races, and wanted to develop their own identity both technologically and culturally, the "Forward thought" project set by Titus Malicus, the founder of the post republic empire was a huge player in this, inspiring people to reinvent the projectile weapons.
The Hyphon gun was favoured for small arms: As projectile weapons developed, so did ammunition, from case to caseless, to sharp and agile, the projectile became the center of imperial guns. One of these developments was round variation , and not just size, but type, from explosive to armour piercing, to even a corrosive acid variant. This would make the projectile favoured over energy based, the variants allowed for multiple battle strategies to be developed, centered on JUST the bullets alone. Plasma and laser was still developed, but had been for warships of space and massive orbital defense platforms.
But still, I feel it complicates things a little? Maybe I should retcon the tech for boreans and replace it with something else? Could use a little feedback and ideas, thanks fellas! 😋
