I don't know about that, but the first season was made more than a decade after he wrote it because the script was rejected by all companies so he sold it to netflix and didn't expect it to become so popular, and since he doesn't technically own the show he made little money from it

its cause they made both seasons at the same time they just decided to make it 2 seasons cause it was gonna be too many episodes and they were running low on budget

that makes sense
