Passing is good, but I strongly believe it's better to strive for the best you can.
When you're looking for a job, one has to consider your previous records, your social network, and other things and the like. It's flawed, sure. But it's still the standard that many use to rely on, like employers and parents. But even if it is, it is still the system that people use as a factor. A C student can become someone great, and an A student can be a burger flipper. But it matters what one does after school or what they can do besides writing something on paper and doing some tests. I know, that sentence really contradicts what I'm arguing for. But if one fails to succeed or have some talent or skill whatsoever, you have no "backup" to go back to. I know, a C student could create a big business, a successful organization, or create something great. But what if they don't? Something I'm trying to imply here is that having a good grade record can be something helpful in life. Sure. A grade is only useful when you're applying for a job. When you're creating something great, you'll probably never use that awesome grade you got. It is true that our system is flawed, and a simple test cannot prove what you will do in life. But it's something we all use. And even if you break away, you have to find an alternative in order to have a decent life. (what i mean by a "decent life" is at least having a good house, living in a okay area, and at least being able to put food on the table.) Although I may argue about screentime being the issue for now, my parents use my grade to measure things. On the other hand, some parents may not. Maybe they aren't as strict. But some will stick to our grading system. And it probably won't change in a long time. I strongly believe that some should try to keep our grades up regardless if the system is flawed, for most still use it as a strong factor in life.
I know. It was long. But let's avoid a primitive argument.
