Sonya, in the eyes of Kirby, is a devout follower of Marx, and is greatly determined to help him attain his dream. She knows much more about the world of Dreamland than she lets on. This is due to the fact that she was initially an early resident of the Forgotten Land. She admired Marx because his "dream came true, even if only for a moment," and that "even if it shattered, he still held onto some of the pieces" with hopes that her wish of a fresh start in a new world far away from humanity might come true. One day, it did, and she was sent to a Land between Dreamland and the Forgotten Land for a time, her form being altered to the point where she was anatomically a member of the Dark Matter race. At last, she was cast to Dreamland only a few hours before Marx crashed back to the ground. She didn't know too much about where she was, so she stayed put. The first night, she saw the stars more clearly than she'd ever before, and saw what appeared to be a falling star. Upon closer observation once it approached, she realized that it wasn’t a star, but a falling Dreamlandian. She rushed to aid the Dreamlandian, but after it landed-revealed to be Marx- she remembered that she knew nothing about medicine, and hardly knew anything about cleaning wounds. Once Marx woke up with his makeshift bandages, unable to move much on his own, he directed Sonya to Cappy Town. Due to being so far, however, the two got to know one another, where Sonya admitted that she knew more than she let on, and that she looked up to Marx for quite some time. She then devoted herself to helping his wish come true upon learning for herself that "having a wish come true is bliss" and she wanted the one who gave her hope to have his wish come true. The two became quick friends and talked of wishes while travelling beneath the stars. Once they reached Cappy Town, Marx was healed, and the two quickly left to devise a plan. They found fragments of Nova along the way, storing them, and Sonya learned of her odd new power for the words she write to literally fly off the page and act like whatever the word describes. They used this to their advantage, and after a long time of hiding and collecting Nova's fragments, were at last prepared to put their plan in action. Sonya, however, quickly discovered that Kirby had learned of the plan, and resolved to hold him back the best she could.
