Here’s why powerscaling is bullshit.
When playing rock, paper, scissors, none of these items can be 'scaled' because they lose to some and win to others. Try claiming paper is above rock level, and then scissors would scale above paper because it beats paper. But then it also loses to rock, which is below paper level. Similarly characters in fiction are written with weaknesses that cause them to lose to very weak characters.
Superman, whom is put on a high pedestal by powerscalers, has been shown repeatedly to lose to kryptonite. But give kryptonite to some regular dude and he could figure out a way to destroy it. Does that mean than this regular dude is stronger than superman?
Also the powerscalers using superman is bullshit because he relies entirely on the power of the sun. He is as strong as the amount of sunlight he absorbs, which means he obviously can't be scaled.
I have this story I'm working on where this character is so powerful that it can literally be limitless. But it isn't limitless, because not only does the character have mental and moral limits, as well as choosing to not use full power, but also, THE PLOT relies on them not going all out 24/7. In fact this character is possibly going to get shot in the head and be either dead or incapacitated for a seriously long time. Does that make my character below gun level? Nope.
And powerscalers keep scaling using unrepeatable feats like superman flying through every sun in the multiverse and doing an infinite mass punch. He's not gonna do that again, that doesn't determine whether or not he will win some fight against some random.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
