Here's the thing; dates mean different things to different people. He might think that a date is "just a date" and doesn't necessarily mean that you like him. I see dates that way. If someone wanted to let me know that he liked me, he'd have to shake me and scream in my face that he wanted to be my boyfriend. And even then I'd go, "Wait... You like me?" That's just my two cents though.
