EPIPHANIES AFTER MIDNIGHT; A night lacking slumber, no peace, only strife,
My tossing and turning, annoying my wife.
Her breath warm and sweet, like jasmine on air,
She's too tired tonight, I'll find no comfort there.
Down pillows, new mattress, clean silk sheets abed,
Could not calm the tempest that raged in my head.
The feds have gone rogue, the newsmen: all liars,
Pyromaniacs hellbent on stoking more fires.
Men say they are women, talking heads swear it's true,
They scream "Follow Science" but they never do.
I doubt there are many more ludicrous sights,
Than old, rich, white democrats hating on whites...
Wait!
The very next moment peace filled up my soul,
I knew I'd been focusing on the wrong goal.
It's all really simple, the solution is clear,
Homes for the homeless, for the mournful, much cheer.
Every life will have purpose, an end to all war,
Why hasn't someone had this idea before?
I drifted to sleep on that glorious thought,
Woke up in 8 hours, thought "Shit, I forgot."
I guess maybe I'm not the answer to life,
Next time I'm just gonna wake up my wife.
