Aubrey ran through her small village crunching white snow as her feet ran along. Despite the dreary situation of a year long winter the villagers were mostly happy with their lives chatting along to each other as Aubrey ran across the snow to her father
Ben: “Hey there you are!”
Aubrey: “Hi daddy!”
Ben hugs her
Aubrey: “Guess what I did!” (She asked with a smirk)
Ben:”What did you do?”
Aubrey: “I found this!” (Shows him a oval shaped rock)
Ben: “Wow! It's been forever since I've seen one of those!” (the last part a bit nostalgic and somber)
Ben: “Where'd you find it?”
Aubrey: “Near the edge of camp.”
Ben: (worried) “Nice. Just remember, be careful we don't want a demon getting you.”
Aubrey: “Yes daddy.”
Ben: “Well you go run along now. I love you” (gives her a little kiss on the forehead before she runs off)
As she runs off something rustles outside the village, but no one notices.
Sarah: “She's just a bundle of Joy isn't she?”
Ben: “She really is honey.”
Ben: “You know sometimes I wonder if I'm failing as her parent.”
The rustles get closer
Sarah: “What?”
Closer
Ben: “You know I just feel like she doesn't deserve to live in this shanty village where the sun barely Shines.”
It's closer you can now discern its features. A Demon. It's tall, furry, black fur, little splotches of white, large (5.7ft-ish), and cat-like with no eyes and pointy ears and a long tail and a large mouth.
Sarah: “Ben. We can't control that, but we can control other things like how we act to her and what morals we teach.”
Right behind you
Ben: “I know it's just I feel so helpless. Hey are you breathing on m-”
CRUNCH
His lifeless body falls to the ground as the Demon fully rips out his back ribs, and gobbling up his back muscles as it snarls to Sarah. Sarah runs while screaming. The Demon tries to get her, but then decides to just take this kill and not waste more energy. It drags Ben away as the village erupts into chaos.
Wait until little Aubrey finds out.
