Competitive Pokemon is using Pokemon you've captured in the official games (Pokemon Scarlet and Violet) and using them to battle other players. In VGC, all battles are double battles, meaning you have two Pokemon on the field at a time. You bring a team of six to a tournament and every battle you select four Pokemon. Each round is best two out of three, so you need to win two games to win a set. Additionally, this tournament will use the Regulation I format. In Regulation I, you're only allowed up to 2 "Restricted Legendary" Pokemon, which are the super powerful box art Pokemon. That's why I don't have as many legendaries, I'm literally not allowed any more.
This tournament, being the Milwaukee Regional championship, has three phases. Phase 1 takes place on the first day of competition, where each player plays a total of 8 rounds and has to win 6 of them to advance. Even though you can get by with just 6 wins, I want to win 7 or 8.
This is because phase 2, which takes place on day 2, has you play another 3 rounds. Since your record carries over from the previous day, I still want to win games on day 1 to have a better record going into day 2.
Once you finish the first 11 rounds, the top 16 players go into Top Cut, a single elimination bracket. In order to guarantee making it into top cut, I need a record of 9-2 or better, but I can still make it in even if I drop another game.
