Real quick true horror story on why I'm so afraid of butterflies and moths; Once when I was 5 or 6, I was strolling through the forest near my grandparents cabin, then I found an open deer carcass (presumably torn open by a bear or a wolf) with butterflies sipping out of it. I then googled "do butterflies drink blood" and they apparently do when they find some, because blood contains protein that pollen and nectar doesn't.
