Yes, I did grind out the Another Life storyline early because Haruka always comes first in every Yakuza game. That’s just a law.
The main story itself is pretty uninteresting and it doesn’t help that it reuses the faces from mainline Yakuza characters, making it impossible to remember all of their names since they’re supposed to be different people.
But it has a good open world with lots to do (take that Lost Judgment), decent combat (even though only 2 of the styles are useful), and somewhat satisfying progression. I just wish you could earn XP from minigames or side stories like you do in classic Yakuza, but that’s been replaced with the virtue system. You only level up with combat unfortunately.
It’s been a while since a Yakuza game made me bust out laughing (I remember Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 3 for that too) so that’s always a plus.
