I thought you thought that I didn't want people IDENTIFYING as the opposite gender before 18 years old

Neither do I, that’s what puberty blockers are for.

Then why are interex people encouraged by the scientific establishment to wait until they're 18 years old to choose their gender?

First of all, tf is an “interex” person?

Second of all, puberty blockers don’t change your gender. Instead, they’re given to transgender minors to (you guessed it) block their puberty, so that they can explore their gender identity and make a decision when they’re 18 years old. Obviously minors shouldn’t get gender reassignment surgery, so this helps them for when they ARE legally an adult to make said decision.

Basically no one who supports trans people believe that minors should be allowed to get gender reassignment surgery, and those who do are fringe cases. It’s more of a strawman against people who support trans people.

If you need more information for how puberty blockers work, then here it is:

Your source given does not cite any sources to back up the claim that puberty blockers have zero side effects.

I don’t recall saying that puberty blockers have zero side effects, nor am I saying it’s perfect.

In fact, if you had actually taken a cursory glance at the source I linked before making claims about it, it talks about the possible risks of puberty blockers.

What I am saying is that basically no one supporting trans rights supports children getting gender reassignment surgeries, unlike what detractors would like you to think. Instead, they support their right to explore their identity, with puberty blockers quite possibly being part of that.

Again, this is not a perfect view. You are free to criticize this notion all you want. However, I suggest that instead of wasting your breath speaking nonsense, you try to probe into the issue, into the present facts and its past history. Then, once you have done your research, you might have something valuable to contribute to the overall discussion.

Hell, I’ve already helped you by linking a source. A source that you haven’t even read and already made conclusions on what it’s trying to say (there is no part of it that claims hormone blockers have zero side effects). So, feel free to have a discussion in the future once you’ve looked into it. But for now, I can already tell that whatever you say about it will undoubtedly be nonsense, especially given that you didn’t even have a response to everything else I said.

Blockers prevent puberty.

You are allowing a CHILD to consent to their puberty not happening.

That is a significant anatomical change.

Why should a child be allowed to consent to a significant anatomical change?

If it was a serious detriment to the health of a child to start taking puberty blockers, then the FDA would not have approved it. Nor would doctors be prescribing it.

They do not cause permanent changes to the body, and the child in question can stop taking them at any time.

What are puberty blockers

Blockers are a type of medication that is used to prevent or delay the onset of puberty in certain children. They've been subject to political controversy since some leftists try to claim that they should be used for transgender minors. (Mayo Clinic, for example, incorrectly reports that they are reversible, and it is incorrect since it cites a study from the 90s regarding one transgender girl where the blockers didn't even work and claims that the female blockers can also apply to male blockers, which is wholly not based in fact)

I personally think that this is ethically wrong in that minors cannot consent to significant bodily modification, just as they also can't consent to transitioning before the age of 18.

Also it's messed up when you realize that the American medical industry profits off of transgender surgeries too, so you can then see why transgender stuff is getting so normalized now. (Not that I'm against trans people, though)

Basically, they’re medication that “block” the puberty of minors. Originally intended to be used on children that had periods too early, they’re also used by transgender minors who aren’t old enough to get gender reassignment surgery but still want to explore their gender identity.
