Hey guys, looks like the historical patterns are patterning. Again.

Just another reminder: Free speech pretty much anywhere only exists when it does not threaten the status quo. When it does, like with the increasing pressure on America to defund Israel’s genocide in Gaza from the people, suppression of free speech will rear its ugly head in a desperate attempt to stop it. It is not some unique bastion of free speech, and it will just as readily oppress it as it claims other countries will.

This has never not been the case, think back to the HUAC that basically either arbitrarily detained thousands of people or sent them into hiding for being suspected communists. Because socialist ideology threatened the status quo.

Sure, we are free to say whatever we want and proclaim our support for Palestine now. But soon, that will most definitely not be the case. It’s already starting to not be the case. This means what we are doing is working, never forget that.
