moral orel is an adult swim show about orel, a 13 year old boy lives in a small (prodestant-christian) religious town in the-middle-of-nowhere america called moralton. he, in the first season, is a character who has wacky, mainly illegal adventures. these are usually caused by misunderstanding a religious story or rule, such as believing that dead people are wasting the gift of life, so he resurrects them. at the end of each episode his (currently chill, and stable) alcoholic dad disciplines him, by hitting him with his belt, and giving a light hearted talking to. by season two, you get to see more of moralton, such as how orel’s best friend has neglectful parents, or how both of orel’s parents are cheating on each other with the same person. at the end of season two, the show takes a darker turn with the dad taking orel on a hunting trip. the dad, clay, gets drunk on this hunting trip, and shoots orel in the leg by ‘accident’, which marks the end of their positive relationship. the dad has no regrets, even after sobering, and orel is given crutches. we are given a glimpse into an even darker side of moralton in season 3, showing, for example, the life of the dumb, bimbo school nurse, nurse bendy. the lore is that she was assaulted as a child, and was forced to put her child up for adoption. every day of adulthood, she returns home to play housewife with stuffed bears, still suffering the trauma of her past. at the end of the show, orel is not saved from his abusive situation, but it is hinted that he breaks the curse of hurtful families in his future.
