men will see this and think “hell yeah”

this game is ehhh like just okay
people say it’s like one of the best Kirby games but that’s just not true, first let’s start off with the positives though

1. the ability mixing gimmick is incredibly fun and unique
2. the level design is very cute and charming, each level has something fun and unique going for them
3. the soundtrack is F**KING IMMACULATE

however the negatives really overpower the positives for me
1. the gameplay is extremely clunky and it just kinda ruins the game for me
2. most crystal shards are in completely bullshit locations, some need an ability mix that you need to get earlier on in the level and stuff like that, some are just in other shitty locations, to the point where you just say “f**k it” and skip it
and that’s another point, to unlock the actual real final boss you need to collect EVERY SINGLE CRYSTAL SHARD, so you need to go back and get all the ones you missed getting all the stupid ability combos and making sure you don’t lose them and shit

however more of the highlights, again a lot of the levels are super charming, the factory level is one of the highlights, i recommend checking it out, this game nailed the levels but not the gameplay

i get this was hal’s first attempt at 3D kirby game, hell even a 3D game to begin with
but they also just kinda… like the game is technically a 2.5D game, it’s just that the graphics are 3D, it’s still a 2D platformer, which like kinda sucks considering what nintendo’s other franchises were getting on the N64, and then it took another 22 whole years for an actual 3D kirby game to be created, and that they actually nailed on the first try i LOOOVE forgotten land

for crystal shards however i’d rather just go and listen to the banger ost than play through the shitty clunky gameplay that makes the game unnecessarily difficult, plus the bosses are shit, and i’m going to mention now, this game would be SIGNIFICANTLY easier if they just gave kirby an actual health bar like in later games and not just 6 damn hp

i think this game needs a remake tbfh, not only is it a game most people love so it could get that treatment, but also because it could fix the really garbage gameplay as in my eyes the game feels more like an experiment than anything, ts is begging for a remake

this game is like a 5.5/10, just like a tiny bit over mid

i don’t recommend buying it or buying the nintendo switch online expansion pack for it
