It's nasty period. I don't like armpit hair in general. A little fuzz if fine, but a mop? No thanks.

Let women do what they want

Of course women can choose what they want to do, but it should be of her own volition, not because she wants to spite men. That's stupid and kind of self-defeating of the purpose to "be free" of men. You're not being "independent" if you let somebody else impact your decisions.

PS. I'm a woman. Whether or not I shave my armpit hair has nothing to do with men. I do it because I just don't want armpit hair. Simple as that.
