After practicing too long, I have a lot of tips.
One, don't try to draw anything that your brain says you can draw if you're like me, because it's probably a hyper realistic werewolf and you aren't ready for that.
Two, one's sketchbook becomes a holy Ark once one has drawn something in it and one does not allow anyone to touch it. This will only destroy your confidence.
Three, hands are your worst enemy, draw stumps for hands.
Four, Humanoid animals are easier than humans and this is because of the paws. Hands destroy many new artists, however there are many things that have no hands.
Five, tracing is okay to do until you get the hang of it. Everyone's traced at some point.
Six, the most important, do not say that your art is bad. This is a mistake I've made many times and it has made me unwilling to draw for weeks. If someone compliments it, accept the compliment, don't say that it's bad.
