So the first Helldivers is set in 2084. Nothing too big right? However, in Warzone 2100, NASDA is launched. NASDA is a nuclear missile defense system, meant to protect the Earth. It is never fully specified when it was launched. However, in the late 21st century, let's say 2085, maybe 2086 (it is never specified), NASDA goes rogue and nukes the Earth. All major cities are wiped out. We are never told of the state of the Earth before this event. There is mass chaos, wars over dog food, and general chaos. One group, however, goes into a bunker, and gets ready for the year 2100. In the year 2100, they begin searching for artifacts, and beat rival groups, such as NEXUS.
Afterwards, we might as well guess that Helldivers 2 comes around 85 years later, as specified. Please remember that in Warzone 2100, there are cyborg implants, allowing humans to wear special power suits that can carry weapons. Maybe the Helldivers have these implants for added strength? And Warzone 2100 has tanks. This was in the original Helldivers. Were these left behind, and then reused to rebuild the Earth (or Super Earth)? You decide.
