Hello My name is Teeisha Bussey and I'm not a fan of writing I feel I suck at it. I always struggle with writing when I was in school (well at least I felt I did). My biggest worry or concern about taking this class is struggling. I write about everything: for myself, for others. I write to myself when something disturbs or frightens me: poems, long random collections of sometimes offensive prose. All of it is too painfully personal, too caught up in the moment for me ever to want to show it to anyone. That kind of writing isn’t the same as the stories that grow inside me and then emerge like strange, alien children that pulsate with their own life and beauty.
I have two fears:
The things that I write about myself are only for myself. I am afraid that they might be found and read and then people will know too much and I will have nowhere to hide. Writing is exposing and makes one very vulnerable. On public forums like this one I use words to hide myself as much as to reveal. But those words are too bald, too blatant: they even scare me when I read them.
My other fear relates to my more polished pieces. I am afraid that because of my own weaknesses and fears, they may never be heard - that all of those words, all of those hours of creation might come to nought. I think I am afraid of my own timidity and terrible social skills. I feel I have something to offer but whether I can step beyond my own insecurities and isolation and share it with the world, still remains to be seen.
