We don't talk about that. Grace once it enters the system, has a way of controlling it's host and making the host think they need it to survive. Meanwhile, the grace slowly and brutally tears the host apart from the inside, making the host go crazy before dying a horribly gruesome death. At some point, Archangel grace was forcefully injected into his body (years prior) which gave him an unhealthy addiction to the substance. His torture to Gabriel was more his way of trying to undo the damage that had been done to him by the Gods but, little did he know, that he was only killing himself more by doing so. It's really complicated and I don't really like talking about it. The grace was put into his system because the withdraw is severe and drives the victim clinically insane. The person responsible for this was trying to make him the next big bad but he was too moral without the addiction.

As I said, it corrupts the host before killing them. Grace is not meant to be ingested so yes.

Could it count as a torture method?

It is...... But, outside of Asmodeus (who had an excuse), it's really f**ked up. But Angels will do it to each other for some reason..... Not all of them, thankfully.
