Interestingly enough, there is actually a six degrees of separation with Fifty Shades of Gray and 9/11. It starts when 9/11 happened and the front man of My Chemical Romance, MCR, saw the attack and realized life was short and that he should start his band he was dreaming of doing. It then goes that the creator of Twilight by Stephane Mayors was inspired to write the series inspired by MCR. Finally, Fifty Shades of Gray started as a fan fiction of Twilight.
