It usually goes like: Little Timmy's parents were a centaur and a siren, but he inherited only the human parts of his parents. Back when Timmy was born, the centaur and siren race turned against each other, and his parents were executed because it was considered treason to help and support the opponents. Timmy was still a baby when his parents were brutally executed in a fire. A rebel faction later found Timmy in the ruins of his now-destroyed home, where they adopted him to become an elite soldier for them. Little Timmy stays positive and innocent and doesn't even know what he is doing 99% of the time; he is involved in missions from his leaders.
