Desc:
In an alternative history Earth, magic was discovered and harnessed humans early at around 250 A.D. While mostly utilized by other races, magic would continue to be studied by all races, including humans. However, even with existence of magic, technology still developed parallel to real life's technological development. Now it's the early 90's, and the United States is booming, especially the good ol' city of Las Vegas. However, much of the Strip and many parts of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area is under control of various Mafia families. Rising tension among these said families could cause a full-on war. There are a lot of paths this could go down, but it has to go down one path.

Guidelines:

This is a quick guide on how to RP.

1 - Pick a family or government faction

2 - Make a new thread with the head comment listing out your character and family/faction of choice.

3 - Wait for reply from me, then the RP will begin.

Depending on what faction you choice, the RP will change with that choice.

Government - Focused on deterring violence among the families, gathering information on the families, and bringing those families down. If war is to break out, the goal will shift to minimizing civilian casualties.

Mafia - Focused on gathering intel on the other families, supporting the family you're in through business. If war is to break out, the goal will shift to trying to tear down the other families or attempting to institute peace, either through diplomacy or force.

Government Factions:

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department:
The LVMPD is the frontline against crime in the Las Vegas Valley. Their track record against crime is suboptimal, however, with the inauguration of the new police force chief Tom Carter, that track record is projected to change. Their current goal is to prevent a full out mafia war on the streets, which could result in massive causalities.

Federal Bureau of Investigation - Nevada District:
The Nevadan District of the FBI have the three major mafia families in their sights, their current plan is to gather intel on all three families, by any means necessary. They've situated moles in each family, gathering information and giving it to the FBI.

Nevada National Guard:
With tensions rising among the families, the National Guard has been deployed to hopefully deter the families from breaking out war on the public streets. While they aren't the United States Army, it's better than nothing. If war does break out among the families and it spills out onto the streets, they are to de-escalate the situation by any means necessary and to evacuate civilians in the area.

General Info:

This is modern-fantasy, so this is basically your generic mafia RP, but with magic involved.

Cars, guns, computers, and all that stuff exists, but so does magic.

While magic exists and is still used to this day, that doesn't mean guns are useless. In fact, guns are as powerful, if not more powerful than almost all magic. (Key word almost)

Since this is part fantasy, your character is not required to be human.

Families:

Wilson Family:
This family is notorious for their gambling schemes and weapon smuggling. Being responsible for the Fermont St. Shootout in 1987, which led to 67 deaths, they have are quite high on the LVMPD's "hit list." Led by John Wilson, a 39 year old man who personally is involved with the family business, his confirmed kill count is 73.

Hervas Family:
This Mexican-American family is infamous for their drug dealing, they have highly suspected (yet unconfirmed) ties to the Mexican Cartel. They are connected to at least 15% deaths related to drugs in the Las Vegas Metropolitan area. And around 7% in the West Coast. Led by Gonzales Hervas, ex-convict and is on the Mexico's government most wanted list.

Morgan Family:
This family is prominent in the chop-shop business and check/cash fraud. Previous based in San Fransisco, this family had to relocate due to the discovery of their warehouses and headquarters by the California National Guard. Led by Nathan Morgan, who is rumored to have moles situated in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Nevada National Guard.

they'd pass, thankfully they weren't hit by any stray bullets

*once they both get near the warehouse they look around for foul play*

basically looking around if there was a shootout

summer*slowly enters the warehouse*

Business as normal, though they could overhear conversations as to what that gunfire was

summer*walk over to the conversation* "what are you guys talking about?"
spring*follow summer*

Member: "We heard gunfire outside, did you girls see what happened?"

summer:"we just saw a convery Crown Victorias and Cadillacs followed by fords"
spring:"I'm guessing there must have been at least 14 cars"

"Check the armory, I gotta help with unloading this shipment." He'd go over to the trucks

spring:"you can help him out summer, I'm gonna look"
summer"alright then" *she follows the orc*

Members would already be setting down crates of weapons on push trolleys, the orc would help set them down as well

*spring would be scavenging though the armory and summer would help push the trolleys along*

spring would find a few 100 round drum mags

After a bit, the shipment would be stored.

spring*grabs two of the drums and walk outs*
summer*pulls out a cigarette and smokes*

A black 1962 Pontiac Bonneville Softtop Sedan would enter the warehouse, it's John Wilson's personal car.

summer*she quickly puts out her cigarette*
spring*quickly puts the drum mags into her chest rig*

A human in a black suit would exit the Pontiac. He'd look around.

John: " . . . Seems everything is in order . . . Oragai?"

The orc Summer and Spring met would walk up to John. "Yes, Mr. Wilson?"

John: "Has the weapons shipment come through yet?"

Oragai: "Yes sir, we just stored up the weapons."

John: "Good good."

*both of them would wait*

John: "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to talk to someone."

He'd walk towards the warehouse office.

summer:"so Oragai is there anything else we can help with or do you want us to stand guard?"

Oragai: "Just go about your normal duties." (Patrol)

*both of them would nod and head outside to patrol*

It'd be rush hour traffic

spring:"do you actually think there's gonna be a war soon?"
summer:"eh probably not, most of the time its all talk and no killing"

maybe, maybe not.

A few uninteresting hours would pass by

summer:"alright we should start heading back"
spring:"I agree" *the both of them start walking back*

A group of black 1992 Crown Victorias would speed pass, a group of Cadillacs would be following the fords

summer:"that is not good at all"
*they both start running back*

Down in a Wilson family warehouse near the strip, a small group of commercial semi trucks would arrive, Spring and summer would be in the warehouse to see it

spring:"hey we know these trucks right?" *she flips off the safety of her m4*
summer:"calm down there are trucks and don't shoot them up"

"Calm down." An orc behind them said. "That's our weapons shipment, we had to contact some boys from Germany for this one."

spring:"what are the weapons?"

"Various rifles and pistols, most of the weapons are from Heckler & Koch. I'm the head firearms dealer, so I have to keep track of these shipments."

spring:"so I'm guessing we are preparing for a war then"

"Well, sort of. Our relations between other families has . . . worsened, and we suspect fighting to break out soon."

spring:*sighs* "I really hope that a war doesn't break out soon, I really don't wanna kill some kid"

"You'll only be killin some adults, either some check drawers or mexicans."

spring"well lucky me then, uh question do we have any 60 round mags?"

Member: "Interesting."

summer:"should we tell the boss?"

Member: "He probably already knows about it."

summer:"alright well me and spring will be patrolling the outside of the warehouse then"
*both of them start walking away*
