Really I'm an agnostic with no opinion at all on what the real deal is. But I'm fascinated by the details of structure and mechanism in evolving molecules. They're like highly optimized electronic devices, much more sophisticated that what we can design ourselves, so I can see the temptation to believe in design. It's the principles of physics that I'd argue as being the design in that case, with the evolution of living things being more of a direct consequence of those principles. The closest I get to being religious, then, is thinking about what the rules of physics really are, why they are that way, where they came from, and similar, probably entirely off-target questions ( :
