Setting aside the extreme partisanship of the "Scientific" American and the obvious bias of the author, the argument presented is that the existence of rare genetic traits somehow means that people who DO NOT have those traits can switch genders.
It is not possible to scientifically defend transgenderism, because it is based on the idea that individuals' feelings overrule reality.
