There are almost no police officers because it's a peaceful community, not the other way around.

I currently live in a very peaceful community with almost no police. I happened to have one cop living next door to me for many years with no problems. My bother did call the cops once when his wife tried to instigate a ight and then decided to strike him when it didn't work. She got to visit the police overnight for that.

The town 20 minutes down the road has much more crime and more police. When I lived there I did actually need a cop at one point when someone did some crack and freaked out. One of my neighbors had her boyfriend beat her. Theft and fire where common.
