StarCraft is a multiplayer strategy game where each player chooses one of 3 races, terran, protoss, or zerg. Each player starts with a main building, and a few resource gathering/building units which can be produced by the main building. The original game came out in the 1990s, and I've actually played it a fair amount. The second game came out somewhat more recently and incorporates new/different units and structures compared to the old game. Each race has its own unique buildings however there's a few general categories they fit in to: troop producers (gateway, starport, barracks etc.), Researchers (forge, academy, etc.), And defenders (photon cannon, spore colony, etc.). Not all building fit these generalizations, however, the majority do, with a few exceptions being the nidas canal in sc1, which is a zerg building that transports ground troops from one canal to another. This next section is my opinion based on my experience playing the game: zerg is used more for immediately attacking enemies and eliminating them early on, to the point where the term "zerg-rushing" became widely used outside the StarCraft community. protoss, is stronger later in the game, but is very vulnerable to being attacked early on. Terran is somewhere between these two, with their first troops being stronger and more expensive than zerg's but cheaper and weaker than protoss'. This last section is my personal opinion, which, while formed from playing the game, was formed from playing mostly against bots, so keep that in mind and don't just take my word for it.
