the storyteller and mimic novellas confirm the mimic01 program is viral and dangerous. in help wanted they scan old circuit boards into the game which creates glitchtrap. spring bonnie doesn't need circuit boards so it can't be afton. mimic however needs circuit boards to run the mimic01 program.
also it's narratively better because afton burning in hell forever (or permanently dying because of Fazbear Frights) is what scott would want for him as a religious person

glitch is the mimic01 program pretending to be afton as it's taught to and burn is either mimic wearing aftons skin (which we know it can do as well as alter its appearance) which i don't like because it goes against Frights, or the mimic with one of the corpses from the epilogues or tales on it

he's a program to stop the mimic endo from breaking out of the basement where it's sealed. in ruin the area where mimic is is blocked off just like in the books in the exact same way, and mxes is additional security. he might also be an antivirus but idk

Glitchtrap acts like a human (because he's William afton and is free from being springlocked) and Glitchtrap is also in security breach and possibly ruin as well, and I don't think the mimic can just become a glitchy virus
