Both games are really good, and I occasionally come back to minecraft, but I feel like the updates for minecraft aren't "good anymore."
When Markus Persson created Minecraft, He wasn't expecting it to become the greatest game of all time. He was making an infiniminer clone. Very bare bones. There was space to add new things, like the end of the game, the nether, etcetera. But eventually they ran out of updates at the caves and cliffs update. They haven't added anything legitimately gamechanging... even before that update. Minecraft has a lot of features that arent fully fledged. The archaelogy system is bare bones and extremely niche, the sniffers are virtually useless, and so much more. Events dont really happen except raids, occasional zombie sieges which dont count as events, just nights when lots of zombies spawn, and the every 2 blue moons superrare events like skeleton jockeys, or skeleton horse traps that are slightly amusing at most. Then, the lack of bosses. You dont really get anything special after killing the ender dragon. Sure, elytras let you fly, but thats all it has to offer. I dont even remember what dragons breath is for. The wither is something that is very basic on its own. My favorite of the bosses. It feels like it really COULD have more to it aside from the generic shooting cubes at you that explode. It doesnt have any phases or anything. Its not really worth the pain of trying to summon it. How are you even supposed to know how to summon it in the first place? Like, you have to place things in very specific areas
Terraria on the other hand has a plethora of bosses that can be grinded and easily resummoned that make it a little more fun.
