They're psychologically projecting their own desires to do violence to liberals onto liberals. I've seen it many times. I remember reading a conversation among fascists where they started off saying the left and liberals want war, and then salivatingly describing all their own weapons and the various methods they intended to use to kill as many leftists and liberals as they could. It was so obvious they were the ones who wanted war.
