Apparently Japan is a communist country

I have a friend from my school that hates communism and communists and he is aware that I listen to J-Pop (Japanese pop) and 2 months ago, he warned me that Japan is a communist country and it held a communist party in 1922

I'm not into politics but what's a communist?

Japan is not a communist country, it has a capitalist government partly based off the U.S government, it does have a communist party with seats in parliament, but it is not a governing party and capitalist policies remain in place.
