Sure but the problem is you're dropping moving water onto a pool of still lava. And we all know that makes obsidian. Now, I didn't pay much attention in geometry but I'm reasonable sure that obsidian in that shape isn't fitting through a hole the size of that mouth. It would likely cause a blockage, preventing the gold from spilling out of the head.
