Chara wasn’t genocidal at any point they did the plan with asriel for the sake of monster kind and only planned to take 6 would with him. Also in a genocide run they’re influenced by the player to become genocidal

I'll explain it down-

Chara died so Asriel could absorb their soul and when the humans fought back, Asriel would attack. But Chara's plan failed because Asriel didn't fight back and ran away back home. Asriel died and then Asgore would kill 7 humans and get their souls to break the barrier. When they did that, they would attempt to end humanity and slaughter every human. That was Chara's plan. When Frisk falls into the underground, they are being controlled by Chara, (Aka YOU) and does a Genocide route. Similar to Deltarune, Kris is controlled by the Player, and then Kris rips them out at the end of the game so you can't control them. In Undertale, Chara (You), control Frisk and slaughter every monster. Undyne and Mettaton both realize that you'll do the same thing to humanity. So yes, Chara was genocidal from the beginning.

How can the player be chara if chara talks to you at the end of a genocide run?

How come when you do genocide, why when you interact with the mirror, it says, "It's Me."?

Chara is the narrator. they do the text boxes that aren’t other characters speaking. they was saying “it’s me” to the player just as they say it’s you in reference to frisk. In the genocide run they get stronger from your kills until they can be their own being not restricted to how you see them as a narrator

Also their text sound is the same as the narration so there’s the proof for that

the whole point Chara died was so asriel could absorb their soul and when the humans attacked asriel Chara's soul would tell asriel to fight back
