For those who are confused: Your starting tools will ALWAYS stem from wood, even if you skip to stone or iron, you still need wood to make sticks so you can make the diamond tools.

Or you can skip all of that by finding chests.
But that'll take a lot longer...

But all those resources require wood at first if they want to be actually useful
