It wasn’t a scam basically pepsi was the most popular soft drink in the Ussr and too pay off there debits the ussr promised to give Pepsi a bunch of old warships to scrap, this deal later changed to promising them brand new tanker ships. Unfortunately for Pepsi these were being manufactured in ukraine when the Soviet Union collapsed causing Pepsi to have wasted tons of money.
