(finale) Chapter 9: Fall

10 years later finale

Matt: Hey, wake up sleepyhead! We’re late for school!
Matt said as he shook his friend awake. Eren groggily woke up.
Eren: What time is it…
Matt: Around 9:40! we got until 10! Hurry up!
Matt grabs Eren and runs out of the house and into the streets. When they got to the school, it was exactly 9:59.
Matt: Whew… We did it!
He says laughing as he and Eren fall to the floor in exhaustion. After some deep breaths, Matt speaks up
Matt: Hey Eren
Eren: yeah?
Matt: I’ve been thinking… we’re going to have to graduate from this school eventually, and we’re gonna have to get a job. But…
Eren: But what?
Matt: Well, what if we just do what we want? As in… what if we start a street gang?
Eren turns to Matt confused
Eren: Like what my dad did before he started working for Uncle Hades?
Matt: Exactly! I can see it now! There's me, the leader, and you can be the second in command! And then we have a powerhouse demon, a calm and silent killer, and an intelligent guy!
Eren: What about Heather?
Matt: Eh, I asked her about it and she said that her dad most likely won’t let her. So what do you say?
Matt says as he gets up from the floor and hold out his hand
Matt: Are you ready to do something with your life?

Ares: Well? Are you ready to do something in your life?
Ares said as he sat down at the throne. Eren stood her ground as the rest of her team got ready to fight. Fox adjusted his hat, Violet, Rose, and Saike took out their swords, X coated his hands with flames, Ruby stayed behind for back up, and Apsogos put on some brass knuckles.
Fox: Keep calm, Eren. Just stay focused on-
Ares: Oh yeah, I forgot to ask…
He says as he smirks
Ares: How's Mercury?
This one statement sent Eren into a rage as she ran towards Ares with gun in hand
Fox: Eren no-
Ares blocks the attack, grabs Erens arm, swings her around and throws her in the air. Before Eren could even process what was happening, Ares was right behind her and spiked her down into the ground below, causing most of the group to jump back.
Ares: It’s funny isn’t it? Sometimes they leave before you can even say goodbye.
Eren: Shut up!
Violet points her katana at Ares with murderous intent in her eyes
Violet: Give me back my husband. Now.
Rose: Yeah! I want to see my dad again!
Ares: Give him back? Why should I?
He says laughing
Ares: I’m not even done with him yet!
Violet turns into her demon form and rushes at Ares as Fox sighs in the background. As Ares blocks the attack, Rose comes from behind and tries to stab him. Ares quickly turns, holding Violet causing Rose to stab her own mother. Fortunately, Rose quickly pulled out the sword and Violet regenerated the wound. But Ares wasn’t done yet. He tossed Violet aside, kicked Rose onto the ground and started grinding her on the pavement as if riding a skateboard, and slid into Saike and X, who were preparing to join. Saike and X both jumped back as Saike yelled angrily
Saike: That's my daughter you piece of shit!
Ares; I know. And you gave her away to someone you barely knew.
Saike: That's not true! I gave her away because I couldn’t handle having another kid-
Ares: And yet you have two now. You just ran away because you couldn’t handle the responsibility as a father
Saike: SHE WAS BORN FROM ASSAULT! OF COURSE I DIDN’T WANT HER!
Rose stood there silently as she stared at Saike.
Saike: W-wait Rose I didn’t mean that-
Rose; it’s fine. I understand.
Ares: Heh… now that's what I call dysfunctional.

Saike and Rose slash at Ares at the same time for that remark, but he jumps over them, and kicks them into each other. X rushes in to try and attack, blasting a huge wave of fire at Ares. It was a direct hit, but Ares simply just walks through it, grabs X’s face, and slams him on the floor.
Ares: All that training, just to be back to square one, huh?
X, still on the ground, makes a wave of fire to blast him out of the ground and knock back Ares. He then kicks X into Saike, who dodges it using color eye. He then carefully focuses. Ares is going to punch him from behind. So he turns around and sees… nothing. Ares was still in front of him as he punched Saike with all his might, causing him to cough blood.
Saike: What the… the vision was clear! How did he-
Ruby, stepping in and healing Saike, explains what happened
Ruby: He’s a fate defiant. Someone not limited to your prophecies or your future vision. He simply can choose what happens whenever it happens
Saike: Oh that's BULLSHIT!
Ruby: don’t worry. We got some fate defiants of our own. Three to be exact.
Fox, Apsogos, and Violet walk up, with Eren leading the charge.
Eren: Sorry Dad… I should have listened
Fox: Hey it’s fine. Let's just take this guy down.
Apsogos: Ugh… What's taking Amber so long!
Violet: Amber? What about her?
Meanwhile, Amber, who had just got back from that time with Venus, and found all of his weapons, flies towards the battlefield. However, despite the dire circumstances, she’s still thinking about that kiss and how sudden it was… it was kind of nice actually. But she quickly snaps back to reality by Rose being flung beside her. Amber flies down to catch her and recognizes her instantly
Amber: Rose! You’ve grown so much! How old are you now?
Rose: 22…
Amber: Wow! You got way taller!
Rose: yeah… are those Grandpas weapons?
Before Amber could answer, Ares had dropkicked X into a building nearby.
Amber: Yeah we should go find him right now. Let's go!
With a sense of urgency, the two ran off. Meanwhile Apsogos is holding on his own against Ares as Eren, Fox, and Violet came from behind and attempted to attack, but Ares just tanked it and swat them away, making a huge gust of wind knock them back. Apsogos comes in, about to punch Ares, but without even making contact, Ares punches the air in the general direction, making Apsogos crash through multiple buildings and into X.
X: Damn it! How is he this strong?
Apsogos: I think he’s getting stronger. Look.

From where Ares punched the air, cracks were being formed, revealing a rainbow like world in between the cracks. Ares looked at it confused himself but shrugged it off.
Ares: Too powerful of a punch. I should hold back a bit more…
Ruby, however, knew exactly what this meant
Ruby: shit… he’s strong enough to even crack reality slightly… We have to stop him before it’s too late!
Ares looks around and realizes he blasted all of his opponents away. Oh well. He can just find her.
Meanwhile, X and Apsogos run down the streets in order to find the rest of the group, when they run into Violet.
X: Violet! Where’s Eren and the other?
Violet: I-I don’t know. We all got blasted in different directions!
Apsogos: Then we better regroup before-
Ares: found you guys.
The three turn around and see Ares, standing in the crowd of citizens, who are doing their everyday things.
Ares: since you’ve all been so persistent, I shall reward you with something new
He says as holds up one finger and prepares to do something… X realizes what's happening and grabs both of them
X: GET DOWN!
They duck to the ground right as Ares swipes his hand with such force that it creates a sharp blade of air that beheads all of the citizens in that direction, which attracts the attention of Eren, Fox, Saike, Amber, Rose, and Ruby.
Apsogos: What the hell was that?
Violet: It’s like a more extreme version of that swat from earlier…
X: Damn it…
But then they all hear a cry from above
Amber: Apsogos! Catch!
Amber tosses the rest of Apsogos weapons, which he jumps in the air and catches as a response. He then crashes down, and wields Order with pride. Eren, Rose, and Saike appear and get ready to battle along with the rest as Fox and Ruby watch from the sidelines. It seems like our heroes have the advantage as Apsogos stabs Ares with Order but then…
Matt: huh? W-where am I?
Everyone lets their guard down. It’s him. Standing where Ares was is Matt Kingsman. The reason they were fighting in the first place. Overjoyed with tears in her eyes, Rose runs towards her adoptive father and hugs him tightly
Rose: Dad! I missed you so much!
Matt: Rose! You've gotten taller! Sorry I couldn’t watch you grow up…
Eren walks up to him, hoping to get a closer look… it really is him.
Eren: Hey dumbass
Matt: Hey idiot.
They laugh together just like old times. It seems like everything is over. The battle was finally won. Violet rushed to hug her beloved husband and he hugged back. Matt was happy to be back with his friends

but then… darkness. He was back inside of his mind. And outside, Ares had stabbed Violet with a spear in between the hug. Everyone jumped back and raised their guard up. Rose cried in pain at seeing her mom get hurt, trying to run in to help her but was held back by Fox
Ares: You didn’t think I knew?
He says staring at Apsogos
Ares: Order is able to nullify abilities for 2 minutes. Nullify my control over this body. But I guess two minutes were enough to let all of your guards down.
Violet coughs up blood on the floor as Ares digs the spear deeper into her.
Ares: I was planning to go for the daughter, but the wife will do instead.
Eren tries to rush in but Ares jumps in the air, still holding the spear that’s impaled into Violet and is about to throw it at the citizens and the gang below.
Violet: …Matt… I know you’re in there… I know what you’re feeling right now… But I want you to s-stop thinking that… remember…
Violet smiles as tears form in her eyes
Violet: I love you
Matt, inside of his own mind, screams as Ares tosses the spear into the ground below, causing a huge explosion, destroying any remains of Violet and causing immense harm to the rest of the people below. As Ares lands down, he dusts off his armor and looks up at the wounded Eren
Ares: Next.
Matt, inside of his mind, cries on the floor as he watches Ares fight his friends. He lost Spark… he lost Mercury… he lost Confetti… he lost Violet… but then he realized. He wasn’t restrained.
Matt: Why… Why am I not shackled up? WHY DO YOU LET ME BE FREE TO LEAVE MY OWN MIND? WHY ARE YOU LETTING ME BE ABLE TO TAKE CONTROL?
Ares: Simple.
He says staring at the pitiful excuse of a human known as Matt.
Ares: You’re too broken to try anything. I guess the voices were right, Matthew.
“You really are a stupid piece of shit”
And he was right.
Outside, Everyone was trying their best to even damage Ares anymore, but it seems like he’s not even feeling anything. Saike, using both of his swords, slashes away at Ares, enraged that he used his friend as bait. But Ares simply grabs his face, drags him on the ground and slams him into X. A knight, summoned by Rose, started attacking Ares with Rose in order to make him overwhelmed, but this wasn’t enough for the one man army, who grabbed both by the head and head butt them together.
Ares: Now now, child. Is that any way to treat your father?
He says mockingly as Apsogos, wielding Blitz, runs in and starts to punch Ares rapidly,

Ares was unable to attack for the first 50 hits, but suddenly grabbed Apsogos’s fist.
Apsogos: F**k your adaptation-
He gets cut off by getting tossed away as Ares rushes to grab Eren by the face and runs through multiple buildings, tossing her up in the air and catching her midair, making her look at the view below
Ares: Nice day, isn’t it?
He says crashing straight down with Eren on one hand on top of a building, killing everyone inside it in the process. Eren is tossed aside as Ares walks towards Fox and Ruby, the latter looking more worried than ever.
Ruby: This is bad… I can’t use my powers since he’ll just adapt to them, or worse… use them against us.
Before Fox could say anything, Ares pointed at him.
Ares: If it isn’t the uncle. If you think about it, it’s really funny. You use the powers of Hades, albeit, a far weaker version, for your own gain. You don’t even follow the set of rules that Hades gives you.
“You’re just as bad as me”
For the first time in this entire story, Fox starts to get worried. Ares steps forwards and holds out his arm
Ares: well? Go ahead. Banish me. Like you did years before and like what you did with a certain bartender.
Fox stands there, unmoving as Ares laughs
Ares: Oh right! How could I forget? You can only use it once per god. How unfortunate for you!
Fox grabs something in his pocket as He laughs even more
Ares: Go ahead. Call out your wife. I hope you’re ready to lose her again
On this remark, Fox loses it. He grabs out Laura’s soul and summons her in her Fox spirit form, similar to a kitsune.
Fox: Bring it on.
He punches Ares, actually doing some damage since his attacks ignore the durability of a person as Laura slashes at him. The two seem to be winning, and Ares can’t adapt to Fox’s attacks, but then an idea hits him. He gets knocked back and into the ground. As Fox walks up to him with Laura, He smirks.
Fox: Hm. I never thought a god would kneel before me.
Saike looks up from where he was hit last, and then realizes in horror what's happening. He recognizes what Ares is about to do
Saike: FOX! STOP HIM NOW!
Fox: Huh?
Ares: Cleanse.

A spike comes out of the ground and impales a citizen from afar, and then another, and another, and soon the entirety of Olympus was infested with spikes coming out of the ground rapidly and quickly. Eren tries to use her heightened senses to dodge some of the spikes, but they move so fast it’s impossible for her to not get hit. The same goes for the others, who are defending their lives. When the attack was over, two million people were killed that day. Rose, Amber, Apsogos, Fox, Saike, and X were knocked out cold from that attack. Ruby managed to shield herself and Eren, who was the closest towards her.
Ares: Oh joy. The blind sniper and the time traveling goddess are still active.
He says as he pulls his hands out of the ground and walks towards them. Eren had to think fast, but remembered something that Persephone taught her before this entire raid… Something about hands together… equal power… what was the word…
Ruby: Eren hurry!
Ares: Yes Eren! Hurry!
He says mocking Ruby
Ares: I want to see what move you use next in order to postpone your demise!
Eren: What was it… what was it…
And then… as if an angel had whispered into her ear, she remembered. She put her hands together with sheer determination being the only thing keeping her alive at this point and yelled out
Eren: Confiscation!
A dome barrier was created, surrounding Eren and Ares. Ruby was able to get out, knowing how important this one on one is to her. Ares looks around and notices his armor and weapons are gone.
Ares: …shoot. You got me. I guess I’m as strong as you now, huh?
Eren: yeah… no powers, no weapons.
“Just some violence”
Eren and Ares run at each other, punching them straight in the face, causing both of them to get hurt in the process. Thanks to the fight with Fox, Ares was in way worse shape than before, so Eren easily overpowered him. She had to plan this next part perfectly or they may be back at square one. Once on the ground, Eren turns off Confiscation, quickly makes a gun out of energy, and shoots Ares before he could react in time and reform his armor. The bullets went straight through his heart. Ares coughs up blood and looks at it… He was dying. Once again, he was dying.
Ares: …hehe..ahahaha… AHAHAHAHAHA!
The god with no purpose laughs maniacally as Eren just watches.
Ares: Well done, Eren! You’ve done it! You’ve gotten the upper hand! But… you do realize what killing me will do, right?
Eren: …it will bring Matt back, but it will also make you stay there…

Ares: Exactly! The deal I made with him all those years ago will reset! Back to square one! But you know what won’t go back to normal?
Eren thought long and hard about what he meant by this and then she realized… Matt has seen everything through Ares' eyes. He’s seen people he cares about die, millions of people are dead, the world is ruined, all because he listened to Ares in that fight with the Judge.
Eren: Matt’s mental-
Ares: That's right! Every single thing I’ve done was all to break his mind! And it worked! And had I not killed his wife, he probably would have at least recovered a bit, but now? He’s gone! Matt Kingsman, the man you all fought for, will never be the same again!
Ares laughs maniacally as he coughs out more blood. He made one last announcement before he was swapped back with Matt. Two words that would haunt Eren and the rest forever
“I WIN!”
His laughing will calm down as his hair flickers back to brown. Matt opened his eyes as he stared at the floor emotionlessly. As he gets up, Rose, who just recovered, runs up hesitantly but then hugs him, confirming that her dad is back
Rose: Dad! I was so worried!!
But… Matt didn’t hug back.
Rose: …Dad?
Matt just stood there, staring blankly at the destruction. Rose carefully pulls away from the hug, uncertain on what happened to her father. Citizens gather around Matt, not seeing the man who was tormented, but the man who was the cause of the torment. The citizens all start berating him with insults.
Citizen: Murderer!
Citizen: That kid doesn’t deserve you as a Father!
Citizen: My life is ruined because of you!
As the yelling at Matt continues, the rest of the gang gets up and looks at the emotionless Matt.
Matt: …Fox…
Fox turns to Matt, concerned
Matt: Could I kill these people?
He continues to stare blankly at the destruction, seemingly ignoring the crowd around him. Everyone looks at him, getting their weapons ready
Matt: I could kill everyone here and I still wouldn’t feel anything.
Apsogos rushes in to attack but Eren stops him, walks up calmly to Matt, and puts a hand on his shoulder.
Eren: …lets just go home buddy…
After some silence, Matt nods.
Matt: Yeah. Let's go.
As the two walk out of Olympus, the citizens living there continue degrading Matt, calling him different names and hoping that he killed himself. Apsogos walks by them and says 4 numbers
Apsogos: 9501.
Matt: …pardon?
Apsogos: Hell if I know. It’s what your mother wanted me to tell you
And then be blitzed off.

A couple days pass, and things seem back to normal… well except for some minor differences. Venus and Amber's relationship has been stronger than ever now that Venus confessed. And even though they’re just friends, they’re still each other's best friend. Rose walks into the cafe for pickup.
Venus: Oh hey Rose! The usual?
Rose: The usual.
Venus grabs a kebab from the grill and puts it in a bag.
Venus: How's your dad?
Rose: Well I lost contact with Saike…
Venus: No, your other dad.
Rose: Oh! Well… he’s still shut in… and refuses to show his face outside… so I appreciate it for you adding kebabs in the menu so I can drop them off for him.
Venus: no problem! Best I can do for your dad…
Rose hands Venus the money and runs off. In other news, X has left the planet, training elsewhere in case Ares comes back, Apsogos and Fox are just chilling in the underworld, and Eren is taking a 6 month hibernation. Rose walks into Matt's house but he doesn’t see him anywhere…
Rose: Dad?
Meanwhile, Matt was back at his childhood house. He goes down into the basement and into Aella’s old lab. He finds a safe and enters the pin…
Matt: Lets see… 9501… right?
The safe opens up and reveals a tape recorder… Matt knows exactly who left it for him. Maybe it was a sign. A sign that his mom actually loved him all this time… but then he played it
“Hello Matt. Although it might be some time before you find this, you know who I am. You’re probably at that age where you think I’m sort of a monster that did this to you. That your dad said I experimented on you in order to make you soulless. I just want to say, that’s not true. I know you want to be happy, but you never will be. You were born broken, Matt. It’s your birthright. And it’s not just you. Your father and I… well… you can just see the resemblance. The ugliness inside. It’s just another sign of being a Kingsman.”
Matt listens to this tape emotionlessly. He should stop, but he can’t. He has to continue listening
“I have one last request for you. I know I’m most likely long dead by now, but there’s one last thing for you to do. When you’re at your lowest, and nothing is going your way… destroy everything. And I don’t mean, just your bonds, or your surroundings, I mean everything. Do you hear me properly?
Destroy
Everything”

Eh

My f**king attention span….it didn’t falter and I will say this wholeheartedly even if I haven’t seen most of the story this is a fire ending to probably a great story I can’t wait for what you cook up in the lab next Neat your an amazing story writer and I hope this leads to a career path that you enjoy if you want to go down that route but I’ll always support your decisions and respect them
