Bipartisanship is not the magic ingredient to referendum success in Australia. 1946's referendum succeeded without it. 1937, 1967 and 1977's failed with it. 81% of referendums succeed in countries that have an ABSTAIN MECHANISM.
Only 45% succeed in countries without one.
We don't need to waste energy convincing Peter Dutton. We just need a third box on the ballot paper.
