another thing, he loses betty and PRESUMABLY also marceline, because she's not namedropped and isn't seen that much.

They apparently lost contact after the Golb incident

i love how up until ice king became simon, the lore was so lighthearted, and then everything became existential.

I always thought of it like the show maturing with it's audience

eugh. i don't like that concept. there's a possibility adventure time fans are not "nihilistic adults" and just KIDS WHO WANT TO WATCH TV WITHOUT BEING DEPRESSED

Yeah that's fair.

But if I wanted to watch the show for wacky humor, I'd just watch Gumball

it's not that i only want the wacky humor. occasionally episodes can be peak, like finn's soul floating peacefully in the sky, but then it's interrupted yet again, like how all of a sudden the god of their world f**king dies.

I see.

But lets be honest, Adventure time is still a great show
