Lore: In 1864, the Confederates captured Gettysburg before going on to Washington D.C. and burned it to the ground, creating the Second Burning of Washington. But behind their backs, Union soldiers were liberating slave plantations all over the country with the freed slaves stealing guns from warehouses and then raiding Confederate towns/cities.
Meanwhile, a uprising was occuring in the middle of Atlanta where the economic crash had really taken it's toll; to the point where people had become desperate for food, water and human essentials (taken some info from here for the food part https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Cotton#:~:text=Because%20the%20South's%20long%2Drange,that%20it%20ended%20up%20losing.) that they resorted to fighting and looting each other.
Because of a combination of these three events, the old leaders that made up the confederacy had to split, turning the country into nothing but a bunch of warlord states.
What's life like in the Confederacy?: Well, to put it simply, it's basically like Middle Ages Europe. War crimes, psychotic maniacs, high rates of violence and suffering to the point where it makes the Holocaust andcommunist killings both look tame in comparison. So no, it's absolutely horrible.
