for anyone non-american, we're taught both the metric system (Mainly for school and baking and stuff) as a choice, and we're taught the imperial system (For most typical day to day measurement). It's not really enforced to know the metric system, but it's really pushed for people to learn the imperial system, even though most measurements in science, cooking, and baking use the metric system. America is weird.
