Sometimes, I think that we could all do with a bit of culture and education :~)
This is a line from a poem by Rupert Brooke called 'The Old Vicarage Grantchester' written in 1912
and on seeing the image, it fitted perfectly

The quote is from Sir Walter Scott's 1808 epic poem Marmion and means that when someone acts dishonestly, they start a chain of problems that can spiral out of control ... But I like your version :~)
