we can still see the stars because they are their own source of light

but they don't light up the planet because they are too far

it already does but it is not bright enough to actually cause a big enough effect like the sun does

No it wouldn't be soo bright Bcs the stars r lightyears away from us meaning that they aren't powerful enough to reach us, as an example, a flashlight, if it has a higher energy it's light range get bigger but if it's energy is lower then it's light range is smaller, power of science B)

A lot of them are too far for us to ever see their light in our lifespan and when their light reaches us many will have died and so their light stops coming but you still see the light until it runs out so that's why the night sky is dark

they wouldn't be close enough for the light to really make a difference, especially when you consider light pollution. It's the difference between measuring in lumens and lux.
