Marking streams NSFW is only used for the stream’s original purpose (eg. Horny stream being for downbad shit.) MSMG was made for shitposts and announcements. You cannot make the 2nd largest stream on the site inaccessible to minors (95% of MSMG’s user base) because there’s a few bad apples there. Also, Imgflip IS a 13+ site. So that means teenagers. And teenagers mean weirdness. So womp womp.

And those "few" bad apples are everywhere. This site should AT LEAST be markd NSFW to warn people about the horny garbage they are about to witness.

Agreed. But we can AT LEAST warn people.

And any innocent children who have the NSFW blocker on may stumble upon MSMG and anything that isn't marked NSFW will be visible. And I don't think any parent would want to see their children seeing this content. Even excessive swearing is avoided by them, and I don't think we should throw their wishes in the garbage just to have "fun".

MSMG has gone beyond moderate swearing. And I don't think any parents would want their kids seeing excessive swearing, VERY dirty adult jokes (hopefully they won't get it), and any other horny garbage MSMG doesn't mark NSFW. We shouldn't throw their opinions in the garbage like it doesn't matter just to have "fun".

This ain't just casual swearing, this is excessive swearing, VERY dirty adult jokes, and any kind of horny garbage a parent wouldn't approve of. Anyone who is a minor should still respect their parents wishes because they are still in their household. And I think imgflip would agree that the un-marked content that frequently gets posted is more than enough to mark it NSFW. Any parents who has the NSFW blocker on would never want their children finding MSMG.

If it were just swearing I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. This is a very unhealthy amount of horny garbage that even grownups shouldn't post. There is a level of garbage that prepares lots for the outside world, and there is a level of garbage that brings the outside world to the kid
2 ups, 4mo,

And MSMG has crossed the line about bringing the outside world to the kid by miles.

Yes, that's what I meant by once in a while. But MSMG does this to a far higher degree and does it much more frequently. For all we know, MSMG might as well even got those specific school kids to start swearing. If something can be done, it should.

1 up, 4mo,

Alright alright let's tone it down, both of you. It's not our faults that MSMG has gotten toxic over the last couple of years, but random trolls and cyberbullies on the net. We can't do much about them, but all we can do is ignore and don't give them the attention they crave.

Now Spire, don't get me wrong, your point is indeed valid, but Unexplainable is kind of right.
You see, exposing kids, especially under 16 to harmful/toxic content will negatively impact their mental health in the long run.

I understand that MSMG is meant to be a chill community stream, where 'fun' is the main principle. No adult content, we're kids after all!

Swearing isn't all too bad, but we should do something about the countless acts of disrespect to other users that I've personally come across (they did nothing wrong).

Best course of action? Limit NSFW posts in this stream, and oh please, no 'overage' content. It's not bad to learn something new, but excessive exposure to harmful content may lead to this stream, and the child's demise.

I hope you understand, Spire.

I want proof. And not just one post a few months ago, I want 3 dirty adult jokes posted TODAY. And I mean TODAY. And I also want a reason to believe that kids will see this stuff as much as they will see this stuff as frequently as if they decided to take a stroll in MSMG. If the fun stream doesn't check out on these, then it's no where near comparison to MSMG.

In that case, you just said it yourself that there is no proof.
2 ups, 4mo
And the fact that you yourself say that the moderators work this hard to keep the fun stream clean, then they are thousands of times more productive than MSMG and they actually give a damn about their site.
2 ups, 4mo
And I am reporting the bad. I never said it would have to be shut down, I proposed another idea that would also work. And I'm happy to hear any other ideas.

I may have exaggerated your argument, but I have used the same logic and there is no reason why I wouldn't use it to apply to other situations. And I agree, but if parents do sit around being lazy, we shouldn't sit on our butts and let everything fall apart, if we can do something to stop something bad to this degree, we should. And you call yourselves decent people.
2 ups, 4mo
If I could I would. And if you say I'm a bad person for not logging out and try making a difference myself, then you could use the same argument on yourself. So no, that argument fails. And it is imgflips Job to make sure their site is good. If MSMG isn't their problem, idk what is. And if one of my points fail, the rest of the argument still stands. Plus, I didn't make this meme directed to you in the first place it was directed to imgflip. And if imgflip ignores this problem, it's not only like not feeding a hungry child next to you, but it's like if you are also the parent of the hungry child. This lazy parent problem is 100% imgflips responsibility, as well as the parents.

Mind you, I am doing work in the real world. I may be not doing so right now, yet I'm a member of the Sunrise (National Movemen) Organization, which fights against racism, classism, and a better environment every single day.
Our hub in particular even got into the local news for getting the Green New Deal recognized in our public school district.

I also work in a Gándara facility, a company which focuses on the mental health of bilingual individuals.

I'm not implying you're a bad person for not logging off and helping the world, I'm simply suggesting that perhaps that's what you should shift your focus onto.

This argument is not a competition for who does the most good. I am trying to do some good, but the stubbornness of MSMG doesn't help. And don't change the subject to who does the most good, that is not what we are talking about.

Just because I created something does not mean I have the power to control or influence it.

Since the community moderators happen to have more control of MSmg than the people do, there's not much we can do. I may have created the stream, but I am moderator or an owner. This is of my own choice, as I don't think I am fit for the the pressure of such a strong role. Besides, I'm leaving the website in a few months, and the users wouldn't want an inactive owner. I try to flag whatever content I come across that is actually "too far", but I'm not constantly active so naturally I miss some.

AndrewFinlayson himself, a community moderator, posts content for (and I quote) "Boobs Week". He has (allegedly, I wasn't there) also stated something implying that it doesn't matter much if minors are exposed to semi-pornographic natured content.

So does that tell you anything about how much imgflip is influenced by children?
2 ups, 4mo
I have already stated how this is not good. If you can't do anything, can you at least agree with me?

I have to log off Imgflip, so I will be gone for a while.
