Regulations exist in response to something that has happened in the past - like how those boxes full of stupid shit like gas cans and spray paint at the airport exist because someone tried to go through security with them.
Trump got rid of regulations requiring inspections at poultry processing plants in September of 2020, which has led to a recurrent series of bird flu outbreaks since early 2021, forcing tens of millions of birds to be destroyed, and creating shortages and price increases for poultry products well in excess of inflation alone.
