First and foremost, that is horrible that they did that to you and disrespected you as a person, and shame on the school for making you take detention. I don’t know if it would be affective or if this would be something that you would be willing to do, but I think you should either file a report on the students or call the police about it. I don’t know how effective it would be, but if the law were to get in it, I bet the school would actually do something about it. Though i haven’t been in a public school in a long time and don’t know your situation, your school shouldn’t get away with punishing you while you were acting in SELF DEFENSE! I hope things get better with you and hope karma catches up with those jerks.
